Home Is Where You Find It: Reimagined Little Free Libraries
A LAB⁴ Group Exhibition | Art Lit Lab | Summer 2025
This summer, I was honored to be part of Home Is Where You Find It, a group exhibition exploring themes of belonging, memory, and place through the reimagining of Little Free Libraries. Curated by LAB⁴ at Art Lit Lab, the project invited local artists to transform libraries into sculptural works of public art that reflect personal stories and community connections.
My piece is a whimsical, mixed-media fairy cottage and turned into a nostalgic love letter to the woods I grew up in and the magic I searched for in every rock, book, and backyard corner. Built with reclaimed materials and treasures from my childhood rock collection, this library is filled with tiny hand-painted critters, stone accents, and bits of old Ren Faire costumes. Even the back is signed like a time capsule.
You can visit the finished piece installed located on Madison’s West Side at 2214 Eton Ridge, with books added throughout the summer including a few I chose with queer, nature-loving kids in mind.
This project was made possible with support from the Ruth Foundation for the Arts, Madison Public Library, and Art Lit Lab.
